About
Planet Telex is a software, website, and mobile application design and development shop headquartered in Denver, CO with a satellite office in Venice Beach, CA. The company was founded in 2006 by Rob Dixon, and has since grown to a small but extraordinarily talented group of young professionals.
Our clients range from large, multi-national corporations to local startups to independent retailers. We understand that the needs and resources of these different clients are quite different, and we know how to approach solutions from those different positions. Most of the staff at Planet Telex has several years of working at “enterprise” level companies as well, and understands the processes and procedures common to these organizations, as well as the best practices concerning systems architecture.
We provide the full range of services needed to create software and websites successfully: design, user experience, prototyping, development, testing, and project management. Some of our clients contract us for this full stack, but it is also quite common for Planet Telex to perform one or more of these roles while working with an internal team or other contractors. Whether you would like a single provider for your development needs or if you simply need to supplement an existing team, Planet Telex can help.
The name “Planet Telex” comes from the first track of Radiohead's excellent album “The Bends.” It was chosen because it sounds global and technical (never mind that a telex is in fact an old and obsolete device that predates the fax machine) and because founders Rob and Dan are fanatics about the band Radiohead. Naming it after something already dear to them had the odd effect of imbuing a soul into the fledgling company. Radiohead, after all, are known for their high degree of excellence, and that song is certainly an example of it. Naming a company in homage to such excellence sets the bar very, very high.
